Basalt Jar is the solo project of Julie Rozansky, aka “Brooklyn’s hardest working bassist”. After two decades of hustling as a bass player in Washington, D.C. and Brooklyn, Julie felt the inner nudge to create more than just bass lines. In this new role of singer-songwriter, Julie crafts heart-felt songs that speak of love, loss, and the messiness of being human. Moody, raw, and honest, the songs reveal a more vulnerable side of Julie not readily seen while playing bass in loud rock bands. “Ennui” is the first single from the upcoming Aquarius Demos.

“I originally wrote “Ennui” in 2011 while I was in a group called Sleepwalk. Sadly, that project ended before it could see the light of day. It was just a skeleton at the time; the lyrics and structure having the naiveté and simplicity of a first-time songwriter. It has been extremely gratifying to come back to it a decade later and finally finish it.”
